Yoga Goals Update

Back in December I posted my yoga page. Since I really think that everyone can benefit from yoga I decided to list all of the benefits I have gotten from yoga as well as my goals that I have in yoga. Since then I have been working towards my goals. I have made some progress in some so I thought I'd give an update.

Goal 1: Elbows on the ground in forward fold.
Even though technically the pose can be done however close my elbows are to the ground - this is just the point of flexibility I want to be at.

Before November 21, 2014
Update: March 21, 2015
Elbows are just a teensy bit lower, but definitely lower

Goal 2:  Crow Pose

Update March 21, 2015

Getting closer, working on getting my left left out straight

Have you tried yoga yet? What are your yoga goals? Any favorite poses?

11 Yoga Tanks That Will Make You Want To Do Yoga

It is no secret that I love yoga. It is a dream of mine to be a Holy Yoga Instructor one day. If I had the money for it - I would do it RIGHT NOW.

But one of the best things about yoga is all the realllly cute clothes I find on Pinterest. When I have cute workout clothes it makes me want to work out more. I somehow managed to narrow all the yoga tank tops to my top 11 that make me want to get into the studio every. single. day.

1) I'm just here for the Savasana by Inner Fire Apparel Love this because Savasana is the best part of class. Espically if I just worked my Asana off.

2) I Bend So I Don't Break by Arima Designs Yoga makes me feel amazing and flexible and I find this refreshingly simple.

3)Keep The Wild In You by Maidservant of Encouragement Not only does this tank look amazingly comfortable - it reminds me of one of my favorite poses - Wild Thing

4)Yoga by ShopELL obviously I love Yoga so this one is a given

5) Namast'ay In Bed also by Arima Designs I love puns. I love this tank!!

6)Yogaholic by Everfitte I can't get enough yoga so this is completely true!

7) I Wanna Feel The Heat With Somebody by Customizedgirl.com I love hot yoga and this shirt is beyond cute

8)Hot Mess also by Everfitte Every time I leave the yoga studio I am a hot mess! My make up had run all over my face because I was sweating profusely and the tiny amount of hair that I have has come out of my pony tail and got shoved somewhere to keep it out of my face.

9) Yoga. I'm Down, Dog.  Also by Everfitte Again with the puns!

10) Namaste by Everfitte I looove the colors!! I love the layout.

11) How's my Downdog by Howsmydowndog Because in Downdog this is right side up. I LOVE IT

Do you have any favorite yoga tank tops? Do cute workout clothes inspire you to work out?

21 Day Fix Review & Results

WE DID IT! We finished the 21 Day Fix! We each had a few cheats, we're only human! This past Saturday was rough for us. Sunday our church had a Pizza Palooza to end our Family Challenge month soooo we just went ahead and ended it a meal early. I forgot how much I like Pizza!
Read about our halfway point here

Here's what I learned on the 21 Day Fix
1) Pizza is so good but after having it, it wasn't as good as I remembered. I felt heavy and kinda gross after eating it. Instead of the light and energetic feeling I had during the 21 Days.
2) Eating healthy isn't that hard.  As long as healthy food is kept in the house and bad food isn't eating healthy is pretty easy.
3) Healthy food can taste really good! My most favorite thing was a fruit smoothie! If I saved both of my fruit for the day...even better! Roasted Veggies are actually really good. My taste buds never really "grew up" from when I was a kid until this past month. Who woulda thunk that food that isn't a bagel can be delicious?
4) How to cook. I am pretty sure I cooked more in the last 21 Days than I did my entire marriage combined! I had no choice but to cook. After I added some variety besides all kinds of chicken...I really think I did well and I gained a lot of confidence in my skillz.
5) I get hungry when I work out. There were more than one days when I had eaten all the food I was allowed and I was still so hungry by the end of the day. Days when I went to yoga and did the workout were the worst.

Results
So I have to confess we never took our measurements. whoops. I just kept forgetting. So I probably won't know how "successful" I was in that aspect.

Mary:

Weight Lost: 8 lbs
Inches Lost: The world will never know!
Biggest Lesson Learned: I am stronger than I think I am. In 2 ways - by the last day I was barely using the modifier (holla, Kat!) and I had upped my weights to 5 light and 10 heavy from 3 light to 5 heavy! Second way - I can excersie self-control and make much better food choices!
Would you do it again? YES! Next week I will be starting round 2
What would you change? I would 1) measure myself & take front/back/side pictures 2) follow the eating plan 100% as far as cheats..but I think I will eat when I am hungry if it isn't too late in the day
Are you happy with your results? Fa Sho! I think my arms are much more toned and I don't think I'll ever have a 6-pack.  I have more energy and I can't wait to keep pushing myself and be more active.

Philip:

Weight Lost: 10 lbs
Biggest Lesson Learned: How important a diet is along with working out consistently.
Would you do it again? Yeah I would do it again, I think the 21 Day Fix is a great way to reset some bad habits that have been created so that I can start creating better ones.
What would you change? The one thing I would change would be making sure I’m pushing myself even harder each and every workout. I feel like I could have put a little extra into each one and I bet I would have seen even more results if I would have done that.
Are you happy with your results?  visually I would have liked to see more results, but I think the health benefits and the resetting of bad habits is much more important and I’m very happy with those results. I’m ready to take a lighter body and start to build muscle on top of it

Would you want to do the 21 Day Fix? Do you think we accomplished what we set out to do? I do! Let me know what you think!

21 Day Fix Day 15 UPDATE

Today is Day 15 of the 21 Day Fix! So far we have done pretty well! We have survived! Day 2 I had a killer detox headache! It was probably the worst headache I remember having. I tried to take a nap and get rid of the pain but the pain was so great that I couldn't take a nap.
Here are EIGHT things I have learned from my first 2 weeks of the 21 Day Fix.
1) I hate Cardio. I can handle the weights, the yoga, the Pilates, but the cardio- makes want to yell mean words at my TV.
2) Detoxing makes me cranky. Sorry, Philip.
3) I love ice cream. Ok, I already knew this but here we are day 15 and it remains true. The very day this has ended Philip and I are going to get FRO YO!
4) 1 Fruit Serving is 1/2 of a banana NOT a whole nana. Turns out I was having way too much fruit there for a while.
5) I hate spinach in my eggs. It was Day 1 Meal 1. I had just turned off the first workout DVD half way through because I was doing it on an empty stomach. I made eggs with some peppers, onions, and spinach. I gagged. If I am going to have veggies for breakfast it's gotta be pulverized in a smoothie.
6) Eating healthy isn't really that bad. Sure it is expensive. Sure whole wheat bread is not even 1/2 as satisfying as an everything bagel covered in cream cheese. But it is do-able.
7) Autumn Calabrese tells me I can do anything for 60 seconds. Autumn Calabrese is a liar.

8)Variety is key. The first week we had A LOT of chicken. I mean, I basically grew feathers. Week 2 we added some more turkey options and it was better. For the last week I am going to look up a few more recipes to throw into the mix.

After the 21 Day Fix I am going to post Philip and I's before and after pictures and our overall experience. I hope we can stay just as strong the last week.

Do you eat healthy? How do you do it? What is your favorite type of workout?
